HELP!!! I need a good antivirus software now!!! under attack.....?

i downloaded this norton antivirus 2007 - i know - and burned it on a disc, then installed it. it asks me to remove my current one being 2003. then afterwards long story short, the person who made it turned out to be a virus. i uninstalled it and thats when the virus took effect. my computer acted weird and logged me off so i cut it off immediately.

i used system restore and got the old one back but it wont work because a conflict and even warned me of a virus. how do i fix this. whats a good free antivirus to use?

now im using trend micro but i know it sucks, help!

AVG anti virus.

Days ago, i tried the Mcfee anti virus doing the scanning and it give all ok, nothing infected.

But after i tried AVG, it gives me more than 3 threats and heal them for me. So i would suggest like what others suggest in Yahoo! answer! -%26gt; AVG

Your system is now messed up. Do the following things

1. Backup all ur important data to another partition

2. Format ur windows partition and do a clean install of windows .

3. Don't install any driver and install norton antivirus first (as it is the best) for better system performance and less time consumption.
