Urgent help regarding antivirus and firewall?

I would like to know that among the free antivirus, is avg better or avast? Could u also tell me the reason for the same? Any other antivirus better than avg / avast free? Again could u kindly give the reasons / comparisions with avg and avast?

Incase of firewalls is zone alarm free good enough? Or is there a more effective free firewall available?

I recommend McAfee Security Suite...everything on it :)
