My norton antivirus button is gone & when i try to install again, i am told i have to remove it.

ok. i had norton antivirus. the button dissappeared. when i tried to re-install, i got a message that I already had it and to delete it. I went into ad/remove and deleted it. I still cannot re-install it nor any other antivirus, i am told i have to remove norton!! I cannot find it to remove it! I have comcast Mcafee and cannot install the free antivirus as i get a message to remove norton! Help.

Besides being a resource hog, that's the 2nd reason it sucks, you cant even remove the darn thing. (like a virus itself)

Click on control panel. Click on add or remove programs. Look for Norton, and uninstall. Norton is notoriously difficult to remove, so it may take more than one try.

Nothing to worry here. It's due to norton files still persist in registries %26 drives. Open search option-%26gt;Type norton*.* -%26gt;It list's all files %26 folders persisted in a perticular drive in which you installed it.-%26gt;Select all files %26 folders-%26gt;delete.



While deleting, you cant delete some files, bcoz of interlinking between files. So select few few files %26 repeat the process until you delete all.



This process is after removing the Norton from Add/Remove program from control panel.
